Have you noticed the trees starting to get their foliage back, the blossom trees are blooming and daffodils are popping up? You know it can only mean one thing… spring is here! Woo Woo! I for one, am so excited because I’m really over the grey days and cold weather.
It’s the perfect time to share some clever cleaning tips with you for those items that often get overlooked for a regular clean. With a little extra TLC, your home will look as shinny and bright as all those spring blooms!
On a small saucer or microwave proof dish add:
- 2 table spoons of water
- 2-3 drops of lemon oil/ or a good squeeze of lemon juice
- heat on high for 1 min
Then take a dish cloth and using some of the water in the dish to wet the cloth, wipe down the interior of the microwave. So simple and easy!
Place a cup of white vinegar on the top rack of your dishwasher, run a hot cycle.
When cycle is finished, sprinkle a good amount of baking soda on the bottom of your dishwasher, run the dishwasher on a short cycle and it will leave it clean and fresh.
Take a cotton bud dipped in vinegar and run along the length of the window sill or sliding door track and then with a paper towel or clean rag run over the top of it to get all the grim out.
Once you’ve finished mixing up your super charged smoothie, rinse it with warm water and then put in a squirt of dish-washing liquid, hot water fr0m the tap and turn the blender on for a 1minute. Rinse out the soap and dry.
This is one I just discovered last week! After spending many hours trying to bring my oven back to it’s former glory (AKA clean) I was frustrated that even after hours of cleaning, my oven door was still really stained.
I tried the natural options (covering it in baking powder and vinegar paste over night) I even tried stronger chemical cleaner options. But nothing got it clean.
Then I had a genius moment!
I used my paint raiser-blade (which I had been using to scrape paint off my windows after painting the frames) to gently scrape off the baked on stuff. Voila! Crystal clear!! I was totally shocked how well it came up. You can see a huge difference in the below image where I had used the paint scraper on half of the over door.
So I realise that not everyone has the time to do a full on spring clean or, lets face it has the desire to do it (can’t blame you there!).
