Today I’m thrilled to be featuring Madeleine Burke from The Daily Mark. I first came across Madeleine’s fab blog via Secret Blogger Business (SBB) and it’s become one of my regular reads ever since (FYI – SBB offers great blogging courses, and if you are interested you can find out more details here).
On The Daily Mark you can expect to find fun engaging content focused on the best from the beauty world, yummy recipes, stylish fashion and home ideas, clever tech tips and loads more. So without further ado…
1. What was your motivation to start blogging?
I love learning about new products, places and people and sharing them with friends over a spot of wine and cheese. TdM just allows me to do that on a larger scale.
2. Blogger or wordpress?
WordPress! I’ve custom built TdM so it’s my own little world that works exactly like I want.
3. What camera do you use?
I use a Sony RX100 compact SLR that gives me the quality images without the bulk.
4. What graphics programs do you use?
I use Lightroom for my photo editing and Photoshop for any other graphics work like quotes for instagram or promos.
5. Favourite social media?
Instagram! I love how it’s quick, easy and current!
6. How many hours do you spend a week on creating content?
Depending on the week (I like to do a big week of posting and then a quieter week with pre-organised posts) I’d spend between 6-8 hours on posts, photography and social media.
7. Most regularly or favourite resources?
Secret Bloggers Business was a great resource and community for me through my first year of blogging with everyone either going through the same thing or having advice from when they did. I also love Pinterest for great links to blogging tips and resources.
8. Biggest challenge?
“I think a lot of people underestimate the amount of time and work blogging involves. Yes there are amazing perks but there’s also a lot of behind the scenes that requires commitment, organisation and passion.”
My biggest challenge would be the organisation factor! Now I always and try and be a few weeks ahead with content but starting up it was hard to juggle everything and be organised!
9. Something important you’ve learnt through blogging?
Be Nice! You meet so many amazing people and if you’re nice who knows what opportunities will come your way. When I first started going to events I didn’t know up from down but a friendly face and a smile was always my best weapon!
10. A word of advice to anyone wanting to start a blog?
Just start! Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, just do it your way.
